Where Every Part Matters
Theatre is a collaborative art, and at Rock Ridge Theatre Arts, we believe that what happens behind the curtain is just as vital as what happens in front of it. Our program is divided into two distinct paths: the Acting Track for those who find their home in the spotlight, and the Tech Theatre Track for the creators who build the world the actors inhabit. Whether you are here to find your voice or build a world from scratch, you’ll find a community that supports your growth and celebrates your craft.
Acting Track

Step 3: DE Theatre History, Literature, & Performance

Step 4: Musical Theatre

Prerequisite: None (Required for all other Theatre courses):
This is where it all begins. Theatre 1 is the gateway to our entire department. In this introductory course, students will build a foundational "toolbox" of acting techniques, stage movement, and ensemble building. Whether you want to pursue a career on stage or simply want to gain confidence in public speaking, this class is the essential first step for every student in our program.
Prerequisite: Completion of Theatre 1 | College Credits Available:
Take your skills to the next level. Intro to DE shifts the focus from "the basics" to the deeper work of the actor. Students will dive into character development, script analysis, and scene study. You will move beyond the fundamentals and start exploring the "why" behind every movement and line, preparing you for advanced performance and specialized tracks.
Prerequisite: Completion of Theatre 1 & Intro to DE Theatre |
College Credits Available:
Dive deep into the "Why" of the theatre. This Dual Enrollment (DE) course is a college-level deep dive into how theatre has shaped—and been shaped by—culture and history. We don’t just read the greats; we analyze how performance styles have evolved from ancient rituals to the modern stage.
-
Note: This course may be taken twice for credit and is ideal for students looking to earn college hours while in high school.
Prerequisite: Completion of Theatre 1 + Audition Required Course: The ultimate "triple threat" experience. This intensive performance course is dedicated to the unique art of storytelling through song and dance. Unlike our standard acting classes, this course culminates in the production of a full-scale musical. Students will sharpen their vocal health, dance technique, and "acting the song" skills in a professional rehearsal environment.
Tech Theatre Track
Step 1: Tech 1& 2

Step 2: DE Stagecraft

Prerequisite: Must be taken twice before advancing to DE Stagecraft: This is the "engine room" of our theatre department. Tech 1 and 2 are designed to be an immersive, multi-year experience where students gain a deep, working knowledge of every backstage discipline. Because the world of tech is so vast, students spend two years mastering the essentials: from tool safety and carpentry to the complexities of lighting plots and sound design.
Prerequisite: Completion of Tech 1 & 2 | College Credits Available:
For the serious student of design and engineering, DE Stage Craft offers a college-level environment to execute high-level projects. This isn't just a class; it’s a laboratory. Students will engage in advanced building techniques, technical direction, and complex scenic design. Whether you are prepping for a career in the industry or pursuing a college degree, this course provides the portfolio-level experience needed to succeed.

Note: This course may be taken twice for credit, allowing students to lead major design projects over multiple semesters.
